Rates and Bands for new Land Transaction Tax – October 2017

The Welsh Government has published a Tax Policy Report outlining progress to date on the replacement to Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) in Wales (Land Transaction Tax).

 

The report has been published as part of the draft budget for 2018-19.

The new main residential property rates and bands in Wales from April 2018 are:-

• Up to £150,000 no tax
• Between £150k and £250k 2.5%
• Between £250k and £400k 5%
• Between £400k and £750k 7.5%
• Between £750k to £1.5m 10%
• Above £1.5m 12%

The additional property higher rate tax payable in Wales from April 2018 will be the same as the current Stamp Duty Land Tax higher rate tax regime.

Commercial rates and bands have also been published.
